Human Born to Mice Parents?

This is radical science !!

I kinda just stumbled onto this. It's mind blowing , the question is it ethical ??

Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that's part human, part animal.

Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created.

Holy Shit !! That means half human, half Animal !! Oh ok..wait a minute, whats a 'chimera' ?

But creating human-animal chimeras—named after a monster in Greek mythology that had a lion's head, goat's body, and serpent's tail—has raised troubling questions: What new subhuman combination should be produced and for what purpose? At what point would it be considered human? And what rights, if any, should it have?

What's caused the uproar is the mixing of human stem cells with embryonic animals to create new species !!

Last year Canada passed the Assisted Human Reproduction Act, which bans chimeras. Specifically, it prohibits transferring a nonhuman cell into a human embryo and putting human cells into a nonhuman embryo.

Thank Gawd , I'm a Canuak .. Way to Go Canada  !!

Whats troubling is that the reverse analogy is being born ! Think about a mouse born with a human brain !!

Why are we trying to play God in today's world ??  Jezzzzzzzzzzz ..have mercy on me !!

....oh and my sperm too !!

Neuronal Avalanches

"An avalanche roaring down a mountainside may seem to be wildly out of control, but actually it is governed by certain equations. These same equations also govern such seemingly unrelated events as forest fires and earthquakes -- as well as some neural activity in the brain." says - Beggs -a professor in the Biocomplexity Institute at Indiana University Bloomington

They placed slices of rat brain tissue on a microelectrode array and found that the brain cells activated each other in cascades called "neuronal avalanches."

Whats so kewl about this idea is can we afix this storage and avalance states in computing and search patterning ? Think if your computer remembering what you blogged ( in contextall mode) and commented for a specific period. Another application would be to find similar neronal pattern matches for a specfic critera of 'recollections' !!

CEO to Be a Philosopher?

“Technology is no longer an exclusive focus of companies like IBM or Microsoft. Instead, technology is also on its way to becoming the core asset of consumer goods companies like Wal-Mart and, in fact, of any company,” says Tolkowsky, principal of BME Capital. “But this brings us to a metaphysical question: What is the meaning of technology? For example, a personal computer can be regarded as a communication tool by a business executive, as an educational tool by a teacher and as a toy by a child. Different meanings to a given technology can co-exist, or replace one another sequentially. As more companies operate in a global environment, they will need to do more than simply ask whether the technological state-of-the art enables the development of a given product. They will instead have to consider what the technology means to each segment of the market and accordingly, how to position the technology-based product.”

“It will likely be some time before businesses recognize and implement a metaphysical mindset,” he says. “For a long time, companies were able to thrive by serving a limited market. That is no longer the case. Today, the best companies are the ones that succeed on a global scale, but achieving that success involves understanding the beliefs and values of their global customers.”
