BusinessWeek Cites a Technorati Exculsive Deal. This is alarming !!!
Bob Wyman of Feedmesh Working Group is ranting ;
"These revelations of Technorati’s exclusive deals seem to be confirmed by things we’ve recently heard about Technorati folk claiming that in some cases, they are able to index data before PubSub. Given the differences between our technologies, the claims have seemed incredible until now. However, if Technorati, or some other service provider, managed to wrangle exclusive contracts like the WSJ claims, then they could achieve through back-room deals the advantage that they couldn’t otherwise get from their technology…
Publishers and bloggers should have confidence in the neutrality of the channels that they rely on to publish their data. If I publish something on my blog, I want the pings to be distributed immediately and broadly to all interested parties, I don’t want my blog hoster to be selling off my pings or the speed with which they are delivered. "
I am seeing a forking in the blogsphere where Bloggers and Content Hosts will have a choose carefully on the ping consumers because the news/content distribution, is now becoming "excuslive" wheeling and dealing !!
I have to agree with Alan of Blogcity who sez
"The whole premise of blogging is for people to be eard, and any xclusive deal surely limits that notion."
Does anyone know the status of the rumer that Technorati is going to be aqquired ?? This will give us an indicator who is trying to corner and fork blogsphere !!!
Communities are going to be torn apart !!!!
I for one, will be glad when Google finally releases their Blog Search engine and shuts down the rest of the warring factions in the blog search space.
