Tara - Voice of the Community

Nice, Sweet - distractors is her style. I quickly jotted down some thoughts  via my handheld as she went thru her mesh conference presentation. A bit more posted now !!

Tara did an excellent job of skewing  my thoughts in a totaly laterall manner - yeah  its like getting pulled by the short hairs and dragged across the floor type of syndrome.

The two terms Tara used are "authencity" and "voice of the community -VoC" which converges my thought onto the matrix change theory, and my TIB#2 - knowledge management manifesto

Both thoughts and counters thoughts is resonating well with me on this round, especially the "voice of the community" -

If a marketing paradigm is slightly shifted --as in a pinko style thoughts, then I am seeing that the concept of "VoC" maturing. It's like a  canopy opening over the the communites of issues, practices and learning. Is this the unknown parameter, that we researched , --debated, disected  and tried to bring about thought convergence on the Xerox- Gurteen Knowledge letter of 2003 ?

(SideBar : take time to go thru the powerpoint KM manifesto - yes its short-I promise :)-.

However, for these emergent processess to actually mature, then a "briefing of radicals" needs to take place and then only will understanding on "The difficulties many organizations have had with change management depends in large part on an inadequate recognition of interdependencies among technology, practice, and strategy. Recognizing the critical role that interdependencies play in affecting outcomes leads to new analysis and theory".  [more here ]

Geeee.... its time I cut another "This I Belive" and sharpen the saw on this concept. Thanks Tara, much appreciated, for locking down my thoughts in a nice way !!!

Looking forward to seeing you more often in Toronto .

A Bone to Pick with PR - Mesh06

I scratchblogged  Steve's posting here with certain thoughts of mine. Now I will elaborate !!

Steve actually gave a good conversation, with the scope limited to those in the PR, Advertising and other Marketing type of participate. I missed out the opportunity to ask him why Richard Eledman did not have comments enabled on his blog. This would off course lead to the answer it's enable ( yes, I'll concede, but point to note --the blog was initially launched with  comment's disabled. So primary, the so called two way conversation was never enabled - in the first place !!

A classic example of this flaw can be noted in other blogs out there - like Dave Winer, Doc  etc. They all have blogs (for the longest time ) with a "NO comment's" policy. Yeah, that sucked to be a thought leader in that playing  zoneeh ? Say one thing , yet do something else !! It's like saying "We are Conversation enabler's. I'll talk and you shutup and listen" paradigm.

Oh yeah, let me not forgot ..what did he call it  ?? ...oh , "A big hoo ha eruption", about Character blogs were part of the conversation, which  Tris Hussey. Joseph Tonrley  posted.

The issue here is Character blogs. Again, my bone to pick is --why not !!  If there's a difference of opinion --then I am forced to ask myself to explain then how come  Micro Persuasion i #52 vs Cute Overload! ;) on the Technorati's top 100.   Cute Over Load is Postion #22 , thats twice as popluar oas Steve's blog !!  But, CuteOver Load is not about products, not about characters --its about animals !! - yeah Pictures; of cuteness.

So there again, animals don't converse, they have no voice and in a way after being "posted" are totally inanimated characters on a blog--correct ??

So, why then are Character blogs not worthy of being good content  and being a means to attact a community. After all,  the Technorati ranking speaks for itself-- ok ok, that's just my opinion. :)-

I think in today's World, that Marketing and PR should step out of the sphere in terms of content strategies. Let  a company blog or die with their own authentic voice or character. PR and Marketing should  only be there as consultants on how to metering, metric build on goal averages , monitizatiion efforts  and SEO advice type of thingy. In short, keep out of trying to control the message. We, the people wil take any message- not crafted messages. Genuine voices speak in genuine ways- be it in characters, in pictures or whatever. We'll decide what is good or bad.

Like Jermey said, "if Darth Vader was to Blog-  he would read "  and on the other side of room, my thoughts were" yeah yeah, and we'll have a' Han's Scoble too !! :)-
