next gen Leadership

The great leaders of the future will absolutely know technology. Not from a geeky perspective, but from a practical business approach.
...
I'm talking about developing the strategy, recruiting and developing the people to implement strategy, developing the culture and communicating all of the above. Those are the four things a CEO does.
...
The point I'm making is that what gets an executive into technology is not a love for the technology. That's the exception. It's understanding what technology can do to achieve personal or business goals. Any CEO who is goodwill grasp what technology can do to enable their business strategy, achieve their productivity goals, their cost savings, enable their movement into new markets. They'll absolutely use it.

Twitter too Conected ?

Oh Pat echos my feeling on Twitter !!

I kinda felt that its too intrusive and I really don't need to broadcast everything everywhere of life to the net.. blogging is just about ok for me.. if you want to know more..just darn pick up the phone and give me a call.. !!

Question in play: Has 'push/pull' technologies reached its threshold ?? Twitter is an enabler of both..yet's I find another user experince that echo's my inital thoughts

Good Friends lunch !!

I had some good friends over for lunch. Say Hi to Mylene (Standing), Penny (left) and Kelly (right).Dscf1143

These are friends that I have a lot of experience with. We have fought like cats and dawgs, but at the end of the day, they are still friends. God bless my friends, I am really lucky to have such magnificent people in my life.

I look foward to having them over for lunch or supper another time.

Recap of Bangalore -2006/07

Heres my cost recap of Bangalore and  the city. I am rounding of the exchange rates to be about Rs40/- per Canadian dollar.

Accommodation is OK. I got myself a semi furnished 2 bedroom apartment for approx 15K INR for a month. Thats about CAD 500/-

Travel is cheap. Most of the time I spent an average of about 50-75 rupees to travel from here to there. This was using the 3 wheeler auto-rick's.  However, the traffic and congestion is horrible. A white t-shirt looks gray by the time its afternoon !! A Chauffeured driven car costs Rs2500/- per day.Dscf0744  [Note the Yellow toped vehicle - thats an auto]

A bouquet of flowers costs about Rs.150/- and thats a nice bunch of flowers. The same flowers will cost be no less then $75/- in Canada. Dscf0904_1

B/fast can be picked up from anything like 10-20 Rs. most of the time I was feasting on the dosa's, idlies and vadas. The filter coffee is great.  A bottle of water (1lt) is only 12Rs.

Dry cleaning costs about Rs15/- per piece. This includes washing and hand-pressing changes. The time I did my own washing (yeah, one drys their cloths on a a cloths line), I got my pants and shirts ironed out by the local ironing man, just at the side of my apt. It costs like Rs5/- per shirt or pant. [ heres a pic of the guy at the corner of my road]Dscf0702

Cover fee  for a club is approx Rs200/- (weekday). This comes with a free coupon for a beer too. Beers in the pub costs like rs90/- and a Bacardi costs about Rs360/- . All in all - a nite clubbing costs a little less then $35/- Oh yeah, the chics are hot- very hot :)-

Shoppin malls are very crowded. No elbow room to move around. Boutique shops are better to  get some fun stuff.

An average meal for 4 people in a 3star resturant works out to about Rs 2000/- , or about Rs500/- per person.  Fancier places can work out to about Rs2000/- per head too for the evening:)-

Most of the old building are knocked down and multistory apartments are all over the place. Heres a  pic of an old buildings. This seems more like the old facade of banaglore that I remember.  Dscf0743_1

My Old Mentor my EXO's  garden is still the same. Beautiful and green !!

Last time we'll 'fall back' in October

Oh well, this is the last time 'ever' that we will fall back in October !! yeah that sucks, because of that new engery bill

"Under a law passed last year, daylight-saving time will start the second Sunday in March and run until the first Sunday in November, making it three weeks longer.

The law -- called the Energy Policy Act of 2005 -- is intended to make daylight last longer, thus saving energy."

Why do we Canadian having to follow that rule ?? What will happen if we just keep moving along with the same old rules for daylight settings ??

BlogCamp - learn, share and grow !!

This is an interesting phenonmen in the happening. Most BarCamps reach a threshold of approx 100-120  particpants. Blogcampin Blogcamp India has aggreated a sold out house with over 250 registered participants.

What's really strange, is that a whole bunch of them are gathering together in Chennai, India between the 9th-10th for this unconferenced event.   I belive that this group has a lot to play in the blogsphere and they will be tidal wave of bloggers from India soon. I know that Amit A  is a powerful voice in blogsphere blogger , Likewise is  India Uncut

The event currently is holding these interest pillars.

  • Blogging and Governance
  • Blogging and Entrepreneurship
  • Corporate Blogging
  • Getting Geeky
  • Blogging as New Media
  • Blogging as a Hobby
  • Blogging and Community

Note  to Self : Update wiki to include and track point this event.

Reputation Economic's

As the world becomes flatter and as technologies spin the web, Reputation is now one of tenants of economies. Without it, nobody will listen. If markets are conversations, then reputation is the glue that will attracts these conversations.

Having played in the reputation sandbox within the omidyar network,  I can certainly say its hard to build  matrix's blocks for this vital aspect of today's commerce.  Tara has her own thoughts within this paradigm and community fostering.  In a recent reading  of the book  "your Management sucks", it begins with declaring constructive war on oneself. One must challenge the how and why of what is being done. I think that Pinko does that very effectively.

For What its worth, me is just catching idea's within the  "butterfly net" - the term I use as the next level thought process that orginates as the web spirals its way into the future.
