CeBit -- IBM and DHL !!

At CeBit 2006, IBM annouces the pilot programe for the DHL Innovations Initative.   DHL has been doing the OTC experiment  too.  In fact DHL is the first to be doing that.  Are they seeking the "'holy Grail" in the SCM paradigm ?

I think that DHL  just got totally innovative in terms of cutting edge technology and new business initatives. They played in the Far East ( Phillippines) and quietly  grab a chunck of the market share. Recently they announced the expansion of services in the Middle East and are setting the tone for the EU markets. Remember both UPS and Fedex are just about scrambling all over themselves to get their feet wet in the China /India and are forget that markets are available in the Middle East and EU. 20-30% of Gross GDP of the world moves thru the MEA arena. By 2010 I am projecting that DHL will be in th $20-22B Market Cap level. That means Both FEDEX and UPS have to monitor the DHL strategy and initatives. Yes, DHL services sucks a lot in the North Americas because of their recent Airbone aqquistion. However, once they get that worked out in terms of services and Customer Satisfaction levels, the other players may just be nudged off the whole strategy board.

DHL ( OTC + RFID + DP World Terminal) = Marco Polo of the new age !!
