Fedex/UAE and 1st World Service Center

The UAE and Middle East seems to be interesting  space to watch. Now Fedex has jumped into the playing feild and has opened its first - yes FIRST World Service Center in UAE !!

Ffedex logoedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX), the world’s largest express transportation company, has brought the world closer to its customers in the UAE with the opening of the first World Service Center (WSC) in Sharjah.  The FedEx World Service Center will be dedicated to serving customers in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates and is located in the Crystal Plaza Building on King Faisal Street; a focal point for many local businesses. The new WSC offers customers a convenient location to connect to the FedEx international network and is well equipped to serve all their shipping needs" . More here

What I am finding is that suddenly th UAE and middle east have become hot spots for the Players. DP World terminal is negotating the contracts for the east cost of Americas, would this mean that DPW has now become a holding zone (FTZ) between the Far East , Europe and Amercias. Look at my previous posting on DHL and DHL's ME strategy here and the trade agreement with Oman happening !!

If DPL builds a large base in Oman, then they will really be the Marco Polo of the 21st Century. The Industry should sit up and take notice of these events !!
