Eariler I wrote about a incident on "religious discrimination". Fedex was in the line of Fire.
Now its seems that UPS is in the line of Fire .
"The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a federal lawsuit against United Parcel Service Inc., alleging the package shipper committed religious discrimination by refusing to hire a Rastafarian as a driver helper because of his beard"
Yes, Fedex's case was also about Rastafarian. Will DHL be in the line of Fire Next ??
What I would like to see, is that the such employees be deployed and given routes that are concentric to thier own cultural and ethinic background. Tell me , how hard would it be to send a Rastafarian pick and delivery person to an ethinically dominated area ?? Won't they just "fit in" - both culturally and be in haromany with thier customer base ??
In fact, I think that Human Capital folks should begin to think along these lines. Service Routes should be staffed by the same ethinic group which dominates the Area. For example, if the area /block is Hispanc then they should send in a latino driver. If its African American Area, then they should send in the Rastafarain. Or whatever....to get closer to the customer base !!
